Financial Aid for Graduate Students
Master’s and Doctoral students in Political Science are eligible for numerous forms of financial assistance, including graduate assistantships (which require assisting faculty with teaching or research), minority fellowships, honors fellowships, and tuition waivers. As of the 2015-2016 academic year, graduate assistantships may range from $10,000-$15,000 per year for Ph.D. and M.A. students. Other opportunities exist to increase these amounts, such as dissertation completion awards, summer teaching, and scholarships offered by the university.
Graduate students receiving assistantships automatically receive a full tuition waiver (including a full waiver of out-of-state tuition), and health insurance coverage. Students also receive funding for travel to, and participation in, a limited number of academic conferences during the academic year.
